Things To Do in East Meadow

East Meadow and the surrounding area are home to a variety of museums, shopping, sports venues and outdoor activities. If you enjoy getting outside, you will love the outdoor opportunities in East Meadow, from beaches to golf courses, ice skating to racquet sports and cruises.

Area beaches include Lido Beach, Point Lookout, Harbor Isle, and Bay Park. During the summer months you will enjoy the beautiful Sands "Drive-in" Family Picnic and Beach Park on Lido Boulevard. The beach offers the fun and excitement of sand and surf, as well as an outdoor pool, picnic gazebos with barbeques and recreational areas.

If you like boating, you will find both large and small waterways to accommodate your interests.

With the Atlantic Ocean as a southern border and a system of inland waterways dotting the mainland around Hempstead and East Meadow, the town boasts a proud nautical heritage. There are also a number of boating-related businesses and services in the area.

Cruises are very popular and can be a delightful way to spend an evening. There are many cruise boats departing from local piers, and dancing, listening to music, dining or simply strolling the deck are activities you can enjoy aboard one of the many cruise vessels. Large and small craft are available for charter and catering and music can be arranged.

There are ample fishing and clamming opportunities in the area as well. A wide variety of fish can be caught in both oceans and bays. Whether you enjoy fishing from a dock, party boat or a private vessel, you’ll find just the right spot for you.

The East Meadow-Hempstead area is home to three different golf courses. These include the town's demanding 9-hole course in Merrick, and the 18-hole Lido Golf Course. There’s also a 9-hole public course called Bay Park Golf Course. All courses are both challenging and picturesque.

The area also offers numerous indoor and outdoor ice skating facilities, hiking, biking and walking trails, paddleball, racquetball and tennis courts and parks. Most well known of the area’s parks is Eisenhower Park. This 930-acre park is larger than Central Park and is located in East Meadow. Much of the area is devoted to three 18-hole golf courses, including the course that hosts the annual Commerce Bank Championship. The park is also home to the September 11th Memorial for residents of Nassau County.

No matter where your interests lie or what your budget might be, you will find a variety of entertainment and things to do in the East Meadow area.
