East Meadow is a thriving suburb just 30 miles outside of New York City that is home to many commuters and about 40,000 residents. It is a hamlet of Hempstead in Nassau County on Long Island and offers a variety of things to do, neighborhoods to choose from, and opportunities for outdoor recreation.

East Meadow is also home to Safety Town, a popular attraction located at Eisenhower Park. Safety Town is a miniature town operated by the Nassau County Police Department that teaches children about traffic safety. It’s built to 1/3 scale and includes paved streets, two intersections equipped with traffic signals, an overpass, two tunnels, a simulated railroad crossing and 21 buildings. It allows the NCPD's Traffic Safety Unit to teach traffic and bicycle safety to children in 3rd grade under controlled conditions. Children are taught about the rules governing pedestrians and bikers sharing the road with motorists. Attendants go through Safety Town as pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists.
